Blocked Drains Waratah
Waratah Plumbing Co clears blocked drains across Waratah: sewers, stormwater lines and sinks that drain slower each month. We clear with a jetter or electric eel, camera-check the line, and quote a fixed price before any work starts. Call (02) 4063 1093 any time, or use the form.
For the full picture of what we do beyond drains, the Waratah Plumbing Co home page lists every service, from hot water to gas fitting.

Why Do Drains Here Block So Often?
The pipes are the reason, not the users. The oldest cottages in this suburb drain into earthenware sewers laid when the place was a colliery council, and earthenware does not bend. It cracks.
- Roots from the mature trees along the older streets find those cracks and grow into a mat that catches everything behind it.
- A cracked joint also lets soil in, so the line slowly fills with its own ground.
- Grease and fat narrow kitchen lines everywhere, but in a half-closed old pipe they finish the job faster.
- Stormwater connections on the low side of these undulating streets surcharge in a heavy downpour, which reads as a blockage but is an overload.
One symptom, several causes. That's why the camera goes down before the quote goes out.
How Do You Price a Drain Clear?
We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.
"Not only all of that but the job came in right on quote." Steve
Drain prices start from how hard the line is to reach:
- Access Reaching a line under a century-old cottage takes longer than the same clear on a modern slab.
- The pipe material Old earthenware needs a gentler hand and different repair fittings than PVC does.
- The footage Roots alone are cleared on the day; a collapsed length becomes a repair with its own price.
- The hour After-hours clears cost more, and the rate is given on the phone.

Drain Jobs We Pass On
When We're Not the Right Call. Hunter Water looks after the sewer main beyond your boundary, and a fault in it is reported to them, not priced by us. Our camera footage marks the exact point where the responsibility changes hands.
If the water in your yard is coming off a roof rather than out of the ground, the gutter guards page is the better start. And a drain fault flooding the house right now belongs on the emergency plumber page.
Straight Answers on Drains Here
Can jetting crack the old clay sewers around Waratah?
Run blind, yes, so we never run it blind. The pressure is dialled down for brittle earthenware under the older cottages, and often the electric eel goes down first. A camera pass before any clearing tells us what the line can take.
Why does my drain block again every year?
A blockage that keeps returning usually means the line is damaged, not just dirty. Roots get into a cracked joint, the flow slows, debris catches, and it backs up. The camera shows the fault, and then a repair, a reline or a planned clear are your real options.
Do you clear stormwater as well as sewer lines?
Yes. Yard drains, gully traps and the pipes carrying roof water away are all part of the same work, and the stormwater page covers what surcharge looks like and how it's cleared. If a storm has water pooling where it shouldn't, that's the page to read first.
Who fixes the sewer main out on the street?
The council-side main belongs to the water authority, so a fault out there is their job to fix and yours to report. Everything inside your boundary is ours, and the camera footage shows exactly where the handover sits.
